More reps! No carbs! More protein! Nothing but muscle building and weight loss shake! None of it’s working! I’m still at the same weight! OR even worse…still gaining weight! Sound familiar?

We’ve got some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that if you’ve got low testosterone, none of that hard work you’re putting in is going to do a thing to your weight loss dream. The other sucky part of this is you probably feel like crap because your libido has hit an all-time low.

The good news is that there is something else you can do. Something totally different. What you need is to get HOT! No, we’re not talking about hot yoga here. We’re talking about Hormone Optimization Therapy.

Testosterone and weight loss

Not so fun fact: One in four men over the age of 30 has low Testosterone.

Fun fact: Testosterone can easily be added to your system to get your libido back up and running and your weight dropping down to its optimal level.

Let’s talk about Testosterone!

You guys probably think that Testosterone is just about sex and masculinity. Nope! Not only does Testosterone keep your fertility in check, your hair on your head (and everywhere else) and your voice low, it also regulates bone mass, enhances your mood and quality of life, affects your verbal memory and thinking ability, is a key player in fat distribution, and determines how much muscle mass you’re able to build and maintain.

The Vicious Cycle

Testosterone ↔ muscle mass  ↔ weight loss

When we say vicious cycle, we’re not talking about a cruel spin instructor or the spin bike that everyone avoids or that you are inevitably stuck with when you’re late for class. We’re talking about how your hormones affect other body systems, and that system affects other systems and on and on and on.

If you don’t get testosterone, you don’t get muscle mass, and therefore no weight loss. Why? What’s that got to do with weight? Testosterone alleviates muscle mass growth and increases muscle protein synthesis. Here’s where it gets really interesting. The amount of muscle in your body assists in regulating your weight. Muscle requires a lot of energy to maintain. Meaning to say it needs more calories to burn. Muscle helps keep a balance between how much you eat and how much gets burned for fuel. Muscle synthesizes protein resulting in the burning of excess body fat which equates to a lean-and-trim fat-burning machine. More muscle mass = more calories burnt.

On the other hand, when your testosterone levels fall below normal below the normal range, your muscle mass declines, and your metabolism slows down. Now, a domino effect kicks in that opens the door to weight gain and stubborn fat that no amount of exercise and diet can kick.

The good news

Studies have shown that Hormone Optimization Treatment can decrease fat mass and increase muscle size and strength. For our warriors out there, there’s more good news! You’ll see the most benefits when you combine hormone optimization therapy with strength training and exercise.

Testosterone and Fat Storage

Fat cells are not like storage units at your local storage facilities— waiting for someone to drop off some stuff and holding the stuff until someone comes to pick it up. Researchers have recently realized that fat cells are not passive. They are active. Scientists look at them like they are organs. They secrete chemicals, send signals, and influence other parts of your body.

What’s this got to do with weight loss? If they are active, shouldn’t all your efforts get them to do their job better? No. There’s another player in the game here. Fat cells produce an enzyme called aromatase. Aromatase converts testosterone to estrogen. If your testosterone and estrogen levels are out of whack, you’re going to get fat.

Aromatase also has its greedy little fingers in where you store fat. If it is converting too much testosterone into estrogen and your testosterone levels drop, you’re going to get a spare tire. And you know what that means: no 6-pack abs and definitely no chance of a 12-pack. Stomach fat also raises your risk for heart disease, and you don’t want that!

Another vicious cycle…

So low testosterone increases weight gain, makes it harder to lose weight, and boosts your belly fat. Isn’t that bad enough? No! IT gets worse! Low testosterone also increases body fat. Here’s the surprise. Excess body fat impairs your body’s ability to produce and use Testosterone effectively. Are you getting the picture here? You’ve got low-T. That increases body fat. Body fat lowers Testosterone even more. Which adds more body fat, which decreases Testosterone… dizzy yet?

Get off that crappy cycle!

This is the part where we are supposed to tell that you can see significant weight loss if you combine proper nutrition and exercise with Hormone Replacement Therapy. That sounds nice, but we’re going for the gold here! We know that you are already killing your exercise and nutrition program— and even if low libido has got you down in the dumps, you’ll crush it again once your testosterone levels are optimized. So, here’s what we’ll say instead.

If low-T is your problem, it’s a straightforward diagnosis and an easy fix. All you need to do is get a blood test which checks your testosterone levels. If it checks out and low testosterone is the culprit, then come to us. We’ll build you a HOT program that will knock that weight off for good. We will work with you to optimize your testosterone levels- not just get them back into the normal range. We’ll also talk with you about your specific situation, your goals, and your current regimen and get you on a cycle of hormones, supplements, and peptides that will rock your world. Want more good news? You don’t even have to leave your house. We’ll do a teemed visit with you, get everything set up, and deliver everything you need straight to your doorstep.
