Geez, we live in a world of comparing EVERYTHING and it’s getting OLD and making everyone FEEL bad. All we can say is…seriously stop it. It’s ridiculous to covet the gifts of someone else. No matter what your beliefs are, we all come from somewhere and wherever that is, we were created differently for a reason. So let it all go and step into being YOU. Curly hair don’t care, freckles are fancy, shy is sexy, loud is proud, skinny is pretty, curvy is fun, new cars smell good, old cars have character…JUST OWN IT! The sooner we step into our own skin and stop trying on everyone else’s, the better off we’ll all be.
You Need You!
Taking time for YOU is a big one! One of our clients recently took a trip with her family after a year of staying in due to Covid-19. She found the house, invited the friends, planned the excursions, planned the meals, booked the airfare, made sure everyone had new bathing suits etc. etc. etc. The one thing she didn’t take care of was herself, and one week before the vacation, she hit the ground running…literally.
She worked up a sweat every morning at 6:00 on the dot, and booked a hair appointment after 8 months of frizz. Our client also had her nails and toes done, received her first Brazilian wax (OUCH), and a spray tan. After that week, she realized how long it had been since she felt THAT good. She simply took a little time to care for herself and the outcome was a week of feeling GREAT!
Yes, Of Course I Can!
Why do so many of us feel like we need to say YES to everything? Did we learn nothing from Jim Carrey in “Yes, Man?” It just doesn’t work and most of the time we end up saying yes to make someone else happy, when in reality we end up stressed and the blessing is blundered. Learn to be honest with yourself and others knowing you can’t be all things to all people. You’ll feel way better on a daily basis and you’ll gain the respect of others with your honestly and transparency in admitting what you can’t do or make happen.
A wonderful way to ease into this new way of life is to always give an alternative. An Example would be if a friend asks you to help her set up for her child’s birthday party on a day that you already feel particularly swamped. Instead of saying sure, reluctantly, say, “I can’t, my day is packed, but I know a great balloon artist and cake person, I’ll send you their numbers.” You still blessed them and offered to help without overwhelming yourself. Feeling good and taking names!
Finding Your Zen
We’re not here to tell you to go to church every Sunday or to remember to do your Yoga, although we are fans of both. We WILL tell you to find some time daily to meditate, pray, sit quietly listening to soft music or a book and find your own personal happy place. Feeling good isn’t about anything more than a mindset and taking a few minutes per day to reset your mind, body and can do wonders for your feel goods.
What A Wonderful World…
There’s still a little kid in all of us…with a wild imagination, daydreaming about fighting dragons or becoming a princess. We don’t have to let that mindset completely go just because we’re all grown up, and if we’d remember to laugh and giggle or sing out loud sometimes, we’d be better off. You may get lost on the way to a meeting and decide to let it ruin your day, or enjoy the journey, seize the moment and make someone smile knowing the meeting isn’t the end or the beginning of the world. It’s JUST A MEETING and meetings can be rescheduled. Kids can just roll with it most of the time, as long as it’s fun. Let’s take some advice from the little tykes and learn to roll with it and LAUGH and Don’t sweat the small stuff!
Rushing To A Red Light
There’s an old country song (kind of old) by Alabama called, “I’m in A Hurry.” The lyrics say it all…
“I’m In a Hurry to get things done.
I rush and rush until life’s no fun.
All I really gotta do is live and die.
But, I’m in a hurry and don’t know why.”
This is everyone, every day in every part of the Fast Paced USA. SLOW DOWN! Patience isn’t even a word that anyone understands anymore. There is never a need to be in such a hurry that you get yourself and everyone around you in a tizzy. Unless you’re having a baby…then, HURRY! LOL. That’s always my philosophy, if someone is tailgating me or passes me really fast, I ALWAYS say, “Happy New Baby Day!” As silly as it sounds, it automatically changes my mindset from irritated to AHHHHH! A Baby!!!! See, it works!
